Global Networking for Black Business Owners

This is a re-purposing of this blog post.

Click here to download More Black Success Volume 10, which includes interviews and articles by Black entrepreneurs and business experts on both sides of the pond including Melinda Emerson, Twitter's SmallBizLady.  .

I am an African American woman based in London, and I meet people from all over the world. Many of us are facing similar difficulties and challenges. We have a shared history as African people and we have a great deal we can learn from each other.

In my More Black Success free ebooks and the What U Need to Know radio show which I used to  co-present, our emphasis is on networking internationally as people of African heritage.

Click here for some of my Black Success audios, to help you build your business.

Historically, Black people have been taught to hate and mistrust each other as a way of controlling us. We need to overcome these barriers. We are all African people.

We are much stronger and more effective when we work together, for our common interests as African people.

Free Advice from Black Business Experts

Melinda Emerson
As I'm sure you know, some of the editions of More Black Success feature advice by Black business experts.

What you may not realise is that all of the Black business experts I have interviewed provide business advice themselves.   You can contact them for advice or for ongoing mentoring and support.

And some of them offer free resources.

I recently tried to donate copies of More Black Success to the City Business Library.  While they were initially very interested, in the end, they did not add MBS to their collection.  I was very disappointed.  However, you can still download MBS here

My own business advice involves using the power of your unconscious mind to help you achieve the results you want.  For more information, see:  How Does This Affect Your Performance

Is Diversity Good for Business?

The Gherkin, London
The Voice Online reports that the Lord Mayor of London warned that the city risks falling behind its competitors if it fails to embrace diversity in its business culture.

Click here to read her comments.  Apparently, Fiona  Woolf is only the second female Lord Mayor since 1189.  She was speaking at the launch of the Power of Diversity programme.

So remember that the next time you sit through a presentation by a team made up entirely of white men - as I did last night.  There is a business case for diversity.  Or, to put it another way, diversity is good for business.

What do you think?  Is there enough diversity in London and UK businesses?  If not, why not?  And is there a business case for increasing diversity?  Please leave your comments below.

And click here for my Black Success audios Click here for more advice from Black business experts.  Because positive representation is important to me.

Business Bootcamp with Mavis Amankwah

I recently attended the Business Bootcamp with Mavis Amankwah of Rich Visions.

As a successful Black business owner and PR guru, Mavis was one of the people I interviewed in More Black Success Volume 10.

At the business bootcamp, we were given loads and loads of valuable information about how you can successfully set up and run your business.

One thing we were told was that people to interact with your Facebook page – not just “like” your page. Otherwise, they will never see your content.
