Black Success: We Need Solutions that Work

Trayvon's funeral
Listen below for my audio, "We Need Solutions That Work".

I am tired of having my heart broken.

I am tired of hearing about our Black men, boys, women and girls being killed by the authorities.  I'm sure you are, too. This stuff is happening on both sides of the Atlantic.

I watched the films I talked about in my recent blog on Deaths in Police Custody and I despaired.

How to Break Old Habits

Listen below to this short audio on How to Break Old Habits.

You may also want to listen to my recent audio on Achieving Your Goals.
If you want to have more money, more success in your business, better relationships, better health - if you want to achieve your goals - you need to cultivate better, more positive mental and emotional habits.

In order to break old habits and form new ones, one thing we need is to be congruent with the new behaviour and attitude.  I talk about this in Success Strategies for Black People.  We need to change the way we see ourselves.

Using affirmations is a very powerful way to bring about positive change, but sometimes we need more.

In my 3-Part Success Formula, which you can download in my free ebook Achieving Success, I talk about the need for healing.  The need to eliminate the negativity.  We need to dig it up, uproot it.

What Do Black Parents Need? (Part 2)

Please listen below for Part 2 of this discussion, which focuses on nonviolence.  Click here for Part 1:  What Do Black Parents Need?

I was joined by two awesome sistas, Shaunes Richardson of  State of the Black Parent and Dr. Stephanie Myers of Black Women for Positive Change. Black Women for Positive Change are organising a Week of Nonviolence 16th-23rd August.

Shaunes, in particular, spoke about some of the difficulties and challenges we face when working to bring about positive change. This work is not easy!

I wrote about Nonviolent Communication, NVC, in Success Strategies for Black People and in my new ebook, Affirmations for Parents.

I am passionate about this work because it could save your life, and it could save your child's life. NVC is saving lives all over the world.

We can change the world.  And positive change starts with us - our minds, our hearts, our families, our communities.

Please listen below for Part 2 of this discussion, which focuses on nonviolence.  Please leave your comments below, and share this blog post with your networks.  Many thanks.

Which Children Are Most Likely to Bring Weapons to School?

Is Your Child at Risk of Knife Crime?

It's the children who are being bullied, or at risk of being buillied - the ones who feel they have to defend themselves - who are most likely to take a knife or gun to school.

This is true in the UK as well.  They discussed this on The Wright Stuff a couple of weeks ago.  And I know someone in London whose son was running away from a bully, who ended up being arrested and imprisoned on a "joint enterprise" charge.  This is just one way our Black youth are filling up the prisons.  One more way the criminal justice system targerts our communities.

We MUST help our young people find nonviolent solutions to these problems.  If you have read my book Success Strategies for Black People, you know that Nonviolent Communication (NVC) can help to turn situations around - including situations of extreme violence.

If your child is at risk of becoming involved with violence, knife crime, gun crime or other risky situations, you need to learn NVC.  This can make a huge difference and may even save your child's life.

To find out more about NVC, and for more NVC resources, click here to download my new ebook Affirmations for Parents.

Black Success: The Benefits of Meditation

Black Success:  Benefits of Meditation
The benefits of Buddhist meditation can be enjoyed by anyone. You don’t have to be a Buddhist, or even be interested in Buddhism, to enjoy the benefits of meditation.

People, companies and organisations are constantly making demands on our time.  When you meditate, you are taking time and space for yourself.  Don't let anything intrude on that.

Listen to the short audio below for more on the benefits of meditation.

Detroit Mother Pleads Not Guilty to Killing Daughter

The child was just a few days short of her ninth birthday.  She died from multiple stab wounds.

This mother was obviously disturbed - I say "obviously"  because of her behaviour - and needed help.  She needed support.  She was abusing her five children in front of other people - obviously, she was desperate for help.

This kind of thing is often preventable.  Be very clear, I am NOT suggesting that our communities are the only communities afflicted with domestic violence and abuse.

What I am saying is that this kind of thing can be prevented.  The woman's family and friends reported her to the authorities numerous times, but the family did not get the help they needed and now one of the children is dead.

Please, please read my book Success Strategies for Black People.  I am passionate about helping more people find out about Spiritual Response Therapy (SRT), which can prevent tragedies such as this from occurring.  SRT is a form of energy therapy which brings about miraculous results in many cases.  For more about SRT, listen to my short recording on Your Inner Wisdom.  This is just one of the methods I cover in Success Strategies.

Plus, we need to unlearn some of our patterns of toxic communication.  Toxic communication affects our relationships with partners, work colleagues and family members.  We have inherited some of these patterns because of the slavery experience.

Nonviolent Communication (NVC) can transform violent situations and is helping people all over the world to transform their lives.  For more about NVC, please read Success Strategies for Black People.  Please also share this with anyone who can benefit from it - social workers, counsellors, anyone who is working within the Black community or who is working to combat domestic violence.

We can transform our lives and the lives of people in our families and communities.

Black Men Denied Condoms in Prison

Black men in prison are at increased risk of contracting HIV and other STIs as a result of violent sexual assault, according to a study on prison health recently released by the Centers for Disease Control.

Black (African American) men are contracting HIV in prison through sexual activity and through sharing needles when using intravenous drugs.

This has been going on for many years. When they leave prison, many Black men are going back into the community and conducting heterosexual relationships. This is one of the main ways in which African American women are contracting HIV.

I read MORE THAN 20 YEARS AGO that the fastest-growing group of people who would be contracting HIV were – you guessed it – Black women. This is true in Africa as well as the diaspora.

In other words, it was predicted and could have been prevented.

What I only found out very recently is that, in many prisons in the U.S., prisoners are not allowed to use condoms. This means people are being infected with HIV right now, and it COULD BE PREVENTED.

Sorry to shout, but I feel very passionate about this.

It's not only Black men who are being denied condoms in the majority of U.S. prisons. This applies to all prisoners.

But the numbers of Black prisoners – people of African heritage in prison – is disproportionate to our numbers in the population. This is true on both sides of the Atlantic.

The UK government, in preparation for the Olympics, is bringing in repressive measures including 24-hour courts. Click here to read more about this.

This is effectively establishing a police state. They are cracking down in order to prevent demonstrations. So anyone who disagrees with government policies may find himself or herself behind bars.

These are some of the reasons why I have written my book Success Strategies for Black People and why I lead the Success Workshops.

To get the benefit of these workshops, you MUST be open to trying new things.  The methods I share are very powerful. We are changing lives. And we can do a lot more.

Please join us for my next workshop. Click here for details of my Relaxation and Success Workshops.

Your Money Blueprint

I recently attended the Millionaire Mind Intensive (MMI) with T. Harv Eker. Click here to read more about it.

Ever since I did this a few weeks ago, my life has really taken off! It has been a rollercoaster. Very challenging, but brilliant! Amazing.

Did I mention I spent the whole weekend talking to sistas and brothas?

In the book Secrets of the Millionaire Mind, and in the MMI, Eker helps you to discover your money blueprint.

Your money blueprint is the pattern of thoughts, feelings and emotions you have around money. Your money blueprint determines your financial life. The more aware you are of your patterns, the more you have the power to change them.

I have been saying for years, in my books, ebooks and articles, that when you change your mindset, you can change everything.

One difference between the MMI and what I say in Success Strategies for Black People is that, in Success Strategies, I don’t give you the answers, as Eker does. I show you how to find your own blueprint.

You can use my method to discover any blueprint you want to – be it for money, career, relationships or health – any area of your life.

I’ll be blogging more about this soon. See also: Why I wrote Success Strategies for Black People.
